Joy Plus Fire
12 years since their inception with the groundbreaking song "Blue" Rapso Artistes 3Canal have recorded their most challenging work to date, this session album was written and recorded in the remote eastern sea-bound village of Pt Radix, Mayaro Trinidad. There, 3Canal and their band 'the cut and clear crew' re-located for 3 weeks to record JOY+FIRE. Under the keen direction of producer Richard Blair [Real World, Side Steppers] 3Canal crafted what can be best described as the New Sound of the New World. What is significant about JOY+ FIRE is that the recording harks back to a time when musicians and singers recorded the live sessions simultaneously creating a natural dynamic journey across the life of the songs. The natural sounds of nature, insects, surf and wind form layers of texture and colour which when combined with the exquisite musicianship and power lyrics create this unique and intricate tapestry of music. JOY+FIRE questions our development in this fast paced world and it's impact on small places and average people. Lyrically 3Canal makes the statement by posing salient questions and challenging stereotypes "Buildings filling the skies, A people dying for another to rise, Black Gold and Crimson Tides, Is this paradise?" ... "Paradise?" "Are we still slaves in hearts? ...slaves in our minds? ...slaves in our souls? Are we still being bought and sold"... "Slaves?" "...Round and round and round we go, it feels like I've been here before, oh my God the view never changes"... "Fish Bowl" JOY+FIRE is the latest chapter in the story of a band on a musical adventure... The sound that you hear will rock you, shake you, twist you turn you on, won't drop you.
