Broadway buffs will likely argue the relative merits of RENT's Original Cast Recording versus the soundtrack to the show's film adaptation, but either way, there is no denying the power of the performances recorded for the movie. In large part this is because the film's cast includes many of the actors from the stage production (with the notable exception of Rosario Dawson, who plays Mimi Marquez in the film). This 17-track disc offers highlights from Jonathan Larson's book (the re-recordings for the film, produced by Rob Cavallo, are dazzling) and is an excellent souvenir for fans of the play and/or the film, or for those seeking an introduction to either.
