Description
The soundtrack for the second film in the vampiric Twilight series has again taken a path that works alongside the film’s story, not overpowering it. Indie music has taken over the big band arbiter for films, helping compliment the story in a film. Bands like The Killers, Band of Skulls, Grizzly Bear, Lykke Li, and Anya Marina are on the soundtrack with tracks exclusive to the album, or never before released songs.
Ben Gibbard, the singer for Death Cab For Cutie, explained their song for the soundtrack “Meet Me at the Equinox” as a warning of how short life is, which rings true for Bella, seeing as she will be the one growing old, while Edward stays the same age. Radiohead’s Tom Yorke wrote “Hearing Damage” with lyrics like “A tear in my brain/Allows the voices in/They wanna push you off the path”. Stephanie Meyer’s favourite band Muse, who were featured in the first film, have a remix of their song ‘I Belong To You’.
This soundtrack speaks to those who found the message behind New Moon to resonate.
