Description
On March 17th , to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its original release, the classic album 'True' by Spandau Ballet (including the hits 'True', 'Gold', 'Lifeline' and 'Communication') is to be re-released as a
digitally re-mastered enhanced CD. It will contain 11 minutes of unique home video footage taken by the band themselves whilst relaxing and recording the album at the Compass Point Studios, Nassau, The Bahamas in late 1982. Also included is the classic video for 'Gold' and a gallery of never before seen stills of the recording session and stay at the studios.
This resulting CD was a perfect combination of songs, artists, producers and recording environment, which created a special album of blue eyed soul which upon its release the following year was to captivate the
worlds airwaves with further hits like 'True' 'Gold' 'Communication' and 'Pleasure'. In particular its title track 'True' was to explode. It became clear very quickly that it was a very special song indeed. From the
moment it was first broadcast it had huge impact. DJ's played it twice in a row on air and fans sung along to it word for word in concert. It quickly went to No 1 in the UK and remained there for a month and subsequently to the top of the charts all around the world. It was the love ballad of the summer providing the "score" to romances and even weddings from Manchester to Manilla. It also became the bands first real American hit, being embraced first by black American radio (the band subsequently appeared on 'Soul
Train') and crossing over quickly to all radio formats to top the charts.
