Description
If you remember Trentemoller’s award winning Pete Tong Essential Mix for the BBC back in 2006 then this follows the soundscapes he explored during the first 60 or so minutes and showcases the wide influences he has absorbed. There are elements of rock, dub and dance music on this album which mixed together created a CD to kick back at home with the headphones on. This is lush late night material. It kicks off with “The Mash & The Fury”, a 4/4 track that should be on a soundtrack to a modern Western film, and which sets the tone for the rest of the CD, and this is followed by the single “Sycamore Feeling”. Vocals on the album are supplied by Fyfe Dangerfield from Guillemots and Darkness Falls.
It might take a couple of listens to fully get into “In The Great Wide Yonder”, but once you let the melancholy of the tracks and the lush production get into your head then you will find this to be a fantastic record. If you go back and listen to his debut album “The Last Resort” then you will find this to be a good and logical progression for Trentemoller. It’s an addictive album and a great one to enjoy on the headphones. It will be hard to find a better electronic album in 2010.
