Addicted2Fiction is an all-girl electronic darkwave band that hail from Brooklyn, NY but are now based in Los Angeles, CA. Conceived of by Hellskiss and Aisha in July 2002, Addicted2Fiction's propulsive electronic instrumentation utilizes anything within reach to create a unique, dark, undeniably evocative sound. Their infectious songs are punctuated by addictive retro-pop industrial hooks, fierce guitar and bass riffs, sampled ?found sounds?, multi-layered drum tracks, haunting synth layers, processed vocals, and a myriad of eerily compelling effects. They also incorporate live video projection into their performances where video artist Mustafa Bhagat, who shot & edited A2F's video, ?All Signs Point To Yes?, adds compelling imagery to the mix. Prior to founding A2F, Hellskiss and Aisha were core members of Gül, Redhot Secret, and new wave punk quartet Crowns on 45, whose music was featured in Better Luck Tomorrow (jointly released by MTV and Paramount Films). Chris, also a member of the innovative LA-based band, Squab, joined Addicted2Fiction winter of 2004. Her magnetic style compliments A2F?s music and rounds out their live performances. As their enthusiastic audiences everywhere can readily attest to, Hellskiss, Aisha & Chris combine their diverse influences and inspirations with prodigious musicianship in an entirely original way, updating, reprocessing and twisting seemingly familiar sounds to make them very much their own. Addicted2Fiction's discography includes a 6-song EP entitled ?Zero In?, a song in award winning director Quentin Lee's latest feature film Ethan Mao (fall 2004) and a track on ?We?ll Buy That Bridge When We Get To It?, a tribute to Rough Trade's seminal no-wave compilation ?Wanna Buy A Bridge?, in which they do more than justice to The Pop Group's song 'We Are All Prostitutes'. RECENT PRESS MENTIONS: Brooklyn-based industrial electro-pop trio Addicted2Fiction?They?re armed with keyboards, laptops (and the more traditional bass, drums, and guitar), and make forceful music that, at times, mixes up the sounds of The Need, The Cure and various no-wave and new-wave noisemakers. -By Ken Maiuri, GazetteNET, MA: 6/03 Addicted2Fiction is an all-girl industrial electro-pop band from Brooklyn, NY. As such, they are a combination I have never experienced. I can't think of one other band that manages to do what they do --and certainly not with the style they've got oozing out of their pores. Imagine Depeche Mode crossed with Thrill Kill Kult, plus some Jane's Addiction and Nitzer Ebb for good measure -- all coming out of the minds of three sexy ladies. Sounds like an amazing combination, if you ask me. -By Dahlia Schweitzer, Rockerchick Rockerzine, NY:7/03 This spinoff of new wavish locals Crowns on 45 mines similar electro-punk territory, though, slightly more toward the direction of Le Tigre on the high end and toward hippity-hoppity digital hardcore on the low. -By Chuck Eddy, Village Voice Choices, NY: 7/03 Newish group Addicted2Fiction stars two ladies from late, lamented Crowns on 45...Their Wax Trax-flavored sound wouldn't be out of place at the Batcave, so goths take note! These girls are not messing around. -GO NYC magazine, Music Issue: 8/03.
