Thousand Lives EP
'Adriana is the real deal. Her beautifully natural voice and superb tone flow effortlessly. There's nothing preconceived about her - what you see is what you get... Adriana is one of those unique artists that...has allowed her music and message to run directly from her heart to the audience.' IMG Music Promotions Inc. Adriana released her debut EP 'A Thousand Lives' on 1st August 2005 and it has been received positively across a range of audiences. It was recently described in the Sunday Post as: '...the debut from outstanding Scottish songwriter Adriana who blends Americana and rock with intelligent lyrics and powerful vocals' 'Adriana has taken the West Coast love affair with country music and blended it into a distinctive sound...beautiful lyrics thatcreate wonderful images of love and loss.' Rick Fulton. Daily Record Adriana's voice has that floaty, dreamy touch to it that makes it oh so appealing... The songs venture into deep, thought provoking notions which are beautifully written...I absolutely adored the pace and ideas contained in Aisha...the track 'A Thousand Lives' has that saddening appeal that demands subtle attention.' Maverick '... citing influences such as Joni Mitchell, Ani diFranco and Tori Amos, Adriana, backed by a fine band...writes confessional lyrics about relationships...She has a striking image such as on 'The Hardest Thing To Do' where she sings 'they say there is no love that doesn't pierce the hands and feet, the sweetest suffering.' This bare acoustic song is perhaps the best here and displays a distinct Joni influence.' Americana-UK.com Early in 2005, Adriana armed herself with her guitar and hit the road. Armed with the ethos of "if you want something done right, do it yourself", she embarked on a tireless schedule of gigging and writing and gigging some more that has taken her up and down the UK, as well as to the USA and Europe. Born in Scotland of Italian/Scots parentage, Adriana has proved herself with just an acoustic guitar, a classically-trained voice and a stunning collection of songs she has been writing since her teenage years. Over the last two years, Adriana has been building a solid fanbase through continuous live work, playing with the likes of Oh Susanna!, Jack Savoretti and Dar Williams. In 2005, Adriana was invited to perform at Seattle's ROCKRGRL Festival, followed by a successful show in New York. In the summer of 2006, she performed a series of packed-out shows at Scottish Week in the Italian town of Barga, sharing a bill with Paolo Nutini. Adriana performed at the GoNorth and Retrofest festivals in Summer 2007, and appeared at MEI (Meeting of Independent Labels) in Italy in November 07. She is scheduled to perform around Britain on tour with American artists AM and The Bowmans in May 2008 and will be touring in her own right both in Britain and Eurpoe from Summer 2008 onwards. Using the platform of her own label, Adesso Records, she released her download only single "Fire In Me" in June 2006. This followed from the success and critical acclaim of her first release, "A Thousand Lives EP" in August 2005, also released independently. Adriana is currently working on her first full-length album, which is scheduled for release on Adesso in 2008.
