Amazon Blonde is a five-piece Rock band from Detroit, Michigan and was formed in February of 2004. The members of Amazon Blonde combine their individual sounds and diverse influences to contribute to Amazon Blonde's unique sound. Philly Blunt is the newest addition to Amazon Blonde. He is a solid drummer and brings a Rock Edge to the band. His influences range from Jimmy Chamerlain, Steven Perkins and Charlie Beneti however he brings his own element and style to the band. Philly has been in successful Detroit bands throughout the years which include 40 ounce Dick, Painted Glass and Hemigod. One half of AB's guitar duo is Jim Vecore- Combining his influences, which range from Tool to Rush, Jim brings to Amazon Blonde an alternative rock edge while creating melodic overtones. The other half of AB's guitar duo is Vladimir Tovbin- Vlad brings the Funk into the band. His unusual and pickless style of playing is often compared to Mark Knopfler from the Dire Straits. Vlad has an excellent ear for jamming that allows him to play every show slightly different from the previous. His influences range from John McLaughlin to Andy Summers and everything in between. On Bass Guitar is Jason Smith - Jason's influences range from James Jamerson of the Funk Brothers to Aston 'Family Man' Barrett of the Wailers to Nick Harmer of Death Cab for Cutie. Jason studied jazz at Wayne State University and has played for a number of local rock, blues and jazz acts before he came to Amazon Blonde. The Front-woman of Amazon Blonde is Britney Bockelman- Britney's vocals bring a dynamic range of melody and attitude into the music. She also adds piano into some of the songs giving the music another element. Her stage energy is often compared to Gwen Stefani of No Doubt and can be a show in itself. Sarah McLachlan influences her songwriting and her lyrics which gives them a poetic format. Amazon Blonde has a mixture of musical styles that produce a melodic, energy filled sound delivered with an attitude. It is funk flavored rock presented with hooky melodies blended with some piano driven songs. Their live shows speak for themselves...come check it out.
