Anti Social Society's 'down' explores the possibilities of the one man rock band. Recorded live, with no overdubs, one player simultaneously performs real drums, electric guitar, and vocals. One well may wonder at the vacuum tubes awash in electrons, a guitar growling one minute, the next ringing out from the bell tower. Organic drums frame the beat as a single voice lays a gravel road through the evergreens and up into the hills. Listen closely and you may hear a phantasmic aural ectoplasm, a summing of parts that surpasses the single sounds and creates a new whole, filling the void with what may only be imagined.
