To Drown a Box
When three of Australia's most innovative rock bands met together one one night in a swamp near Beerwah - Home to Steve Irwin - a strange new sect was formed, With international touring credentials and successes in Australia that include appearances on Rove and winning Triple J's unearthed competition the founder members of the cult had no reason to avoid the public gaze. But they have had enough of the false celebrity that passes for art these days and so cover their faces whilst performing. It is a comment on the sickness that afflicts music. An art that has been corrupted and prostituted by the Pop Idols and their sycophants. AsWeAre made their debut appearance at Brisbane's Zoo Bar in December 2006. That show sold out and as a result they have recorded an EP which they intend to release throughout the world in 2007. They have been signed to on international record label Baria Records and a UK and US tour will follow. If you are afraid of the future and hate the past you should live in the present and join them on their quest to smash the false idols and reclaim music.
