Hailing from the small city of Barberton, Ohio, August was formed in late 2005 when members Josh Ison, Cliff Bozarth, and Corey Easterday were offered to play an open mic night at a local bar known as David B's. The three musicians had been playing together for nearly two years at church, leading worship, and decided to play just for fun. At the bar that night was an affiliate of a local venue and the three were offered a short set at the next show. So, for the next two weeks, Josh (guitar and vocals), Corey (drums), and Cliff (bass) worked in a living room desperately trying to come up with enough material to play for a half hour. Three years later, the band is using none of their original material, having decided, instead, to exchange them for the songs that make them who they are today. August is a band who strives to write good music, to write songs that push the listener to understand as well as to hear, and to write songs that leave the audience with a sense of hope for their tomorrow and for their selves. The band could be described as progressive or alternative rock, combining influences as wide as American Folk and classic Punk music to make something original. August is a group of Christians who stands for the beliefs that come with their faith and that message permeates the music and words that August writes. August has played continually for the last three years in a search to improve themselves both in their playing and writing skills and in their on stage performance and boasts an energetic and powerful performance worth remembering. August's continual playing has earned them a loyal following of fans in the North-Eastern Ohio area. August pushes to make fans into friends, dedicating time and energy to getting to know their fans and to care about them. August has the distinct pleasure of working with Keith Spetich, a highly accomplished percussionist and third generation musician. This is what Keith had to say about August: 'August is truly one of the great bands in Akron, Ohio. Their sound is very different from most; they have multiple styles ranging from Rock to Jazz. August has come a long way in the music scene. Their music is inspiring and makes you wonder what their going to do next. Not only are these three guys talented and driven, they are also one of the nicest groups you will ever meet. August has touched a lot of hearts, not only with their music but with their friendship. I hope that everyone who reads this will go to as many shows as possible and support one of the best local bands around.' In closing August is a band with goals. These three musicians desire to go as far as possible, to be successful. Success for August means doing well, it means making a difference in as many lives as possible, it means bringing hope and joy and good, well written music to as many people as possible and making those people into lifelong friends or at least acquaintances with which August has shared something personal and powerful.
