Backward Dog Genre: Pop/Rock Hometown: Woodstock, New York Two songwriter/producers who set out to break all their own rules and ended up breaking the sound barrier. They take everything that's happened in pop music since God knows when and roll it into their music like pizza dough, chew it up, spit it out, and start all over again. Although there are many great performances and titlating lyrics on this CD, overall it is a PRODUCTION, a psychedelic surrealistic wonderland that, if you dare to enter, could eventually change your idea of what pop music really is. No two songs sound alike and listening straight through is a different journey everytime you do it . The tracks are so busy and so laden with hidden effects and meanings that you can listen to the same song several times in a row ad hear different songs everytime. This album, in sixties vernacular, blew my mind in a way that few things have. No matter what you're into, you'll find something to love and hate about these guys and probably end up dancing, cursing, and a fan. Harris Breiman, The Woodstock Sun, 2003.
