90 Million Miles
Being hailed as '...one of [Orange County's] most exciting, experimental, and diverse bands,' (John Roos- OC Weekly) BAYADERA's first major album, 90 Million Miles, has made quite an impressive impact since it's summer 2003 release. The southern California based quintet has been a success touring and winning over audiences on both coasts, sparking a reputation for their high-energy live performances which have landed them a variety of gigs in some of southern California's most reputable venues. This year alone, BAYADERA has engaged audiences at the House of Blues, The Galaxy Theatre, and The Whisky-a-Go-Go, not to mention their national performances on the Rick Dees in the Morning radio show, KSCITV, and a number of festivals across the country. BAYADERA combines it's Persian, Vietnamese, and Latin roots by way of powerful guitar-driven rock with electronic nuances to create a fresh, innovative blend of alternative rock. Sexy front-woman, Gina Bandy, '...with pipes comparable to Jewel and Stevie Nicks' (Music Connection), adds a powerful force to the band's identity. In fact, BAYADERA was recently named on Music Connection's Hot 100 Unsigned Artists list and Billboard Magazine has recognized BAYADERA as one of the top songwriters of 2003. Overcoming both cultural and physical barriers (guitarist Dat Nguyen is blind), BAYADERA is proving to have the inspiring talent and tireless perseverance for a lasting musical career. Bayadera is Gina Bandy (lead vocals), Dat Nguyen (guitars, backup vocals), Chris Payne (bass, backup vocals), Saatara (guitars) and Nathan Illes (drums).
