He intentionally used familiar songs people might have heard outside of the church, wrote spiritual lyrics and added a D.C. flavored funky beat to them. The CD also features a few standard worship songs and a 12 min. Sermon from Pastor Marcus E. Turner Sr., of Beulah Baptist Church to make sure the spirit is being fed to those listening. 1st release: 'Shackles' a version of Mary Mary's 'Shackles' segueing into the extended 'Take the Shackles Off' -a unique blend of Dance Hall and GoGo intended to get your head nodding as you drive to church. 2nd release: 'Have a Good Time' a jazzy/funky gospel remake of the Brand New Heavies original. Features the hot vocals of Sia Milner, a lot of Sax from Brian Mills, Doug Crowley/ Bass Guitar, Carl Anderson/ Drums, and the magnificent Cherie Mitchell on keyboards. 3rd release: 'The Turning Point' a twist on the Tyrone Davis' song which speaks to Jas. Funks overcoming drug addiction. 4th release: 'I'm Getting Ready' a funky gospel version of the Doug E. Fresh classic, which states we're getting ready for our Blessings. Guest vocals by Charles Garris, and rap by Kris Reeder. 5th release: "We've Come to Praise the Lord/ Wade In The Water" A Go-Go medley of songs for everyone who likes the pure go-go sound, But mixed with catchy spiritual lyrics, and of course, a new version of Wade... This CD features The Beulah Baptist Church Choir and D.C. Legend James' Funk' Thomas, enhanced by the lead vocals of Sia Milner. Also including the amazing saxaphone stylings of Art Sherrod Jr. and Brian Mills (Chuck Brown, Soul Sponge), on the Guitar-Stan Cooper who's all over the BET Jazz Channel, Cherie Mitchell-Keys (Chic, Chuck Brown, Pieces of a Dream), as well as the dynamic percussion by the always funky Milton 'Go Go Mickey' Freeman of Rare Essence, and many other talented D.C. musicians such as "Blue-Eyed" Darryl Arrington-Drums (Rare Essence), Carl Anderson-Drums, Lorenzo Johnson-Keys (Ledicy), LeRoy "Scooter" Taylor (Marcus Miller, Rare Essence), Darien Towns-Bass (Proper Utensils).
