My Reality Baby
Most musicians claim to know that music was their first passion. If you told Billy Floyd that he would be pursuing a musical career 11 years ago, he would have thought you were insane. Billy is not your typical musician. He didn't start playing guitar at the age of three, and he doesn't have a particular style of music to hold him back. Even without that, his words and his music still manage to find their way into your heart. As a Sophomore in college, Billy picked up his first guitar; a four string Fender strat. He and longtime childhood friend, Mark Smythe played at various coffee houses and clubs in Inverness, Tampa and Ocala, Florida to create a solid musical foundation for their future move to Orlando. As a Junior, the band Toaster12 was started, but after two years, two talent competitions and endless gigs, Toaster12 met it's end after graduation. Never being one to give up, Billy moved to Ocala to pick things up once again with Smythe, who both moved to Orlando, Florida and started the band, OPEN. After a fallout with the band members, Billy moved to Tampa to change his life around, and start a solo career. In 2004, he left behind friends, family and his profession to move back to Orlando. With $17.50 in his pocket and support from close friends, My Reality, Baby! Billy's acoustic CD was recorded, mixed and mastered within less than one month of his impulsive move. So what sets him apart? His drive. His thirst for knowledge. His passion for music, and his vigorous heart. The path he has been down in order to get where he is today gave him an outlook on life that he uses as inspiration in his writing. He captures a precise moment and suspends it in time just long enough to describe it through his lyrics and music. What happens next? With an unforeseen future and an apparent drive for success, there is no doubt that you should experience Billy Floyd's Reality.
