Blessings to You!
With African American roots, a love of smooth jazz, new age and alternative music, BJ's style of music is eclectic, borrowing from a wide range of musical genres. B J began writing her own music from the heart in June of 2000. Having had a mother with a voice like Ella Fitzgerald who had always wanted to play the piano, BJ along with two siblings was sent to piano lessons while she was in elementary school. Later, after having graduated from a high school of the performing arts in Newark, NJ where she majored in music, studying the cello then vocal music, BJ switched to a medical career. While she worked for the US Government and the American Cancer Society researching lung cancer, music became a beloved hobby for BJ. Later her interest in exploring spirituality, brought into her life the practice of meditation, comtemplation, a love of Eastern and Western Metaphysics, Mysticism and New Age. This led to a move to the Midwest and her study, ordination and her work as a Unity Minister in Salina, Kansas where she continues to reside. While exploring another spiritual path called 'Eckankar, the Religion of the Light and Sound of God', BJ was inspired to begin singing, playing and recording some of the songs and the music that flowed through her. One of these efforts is the present primarily instrumental CD entitled 'Blessings to You!' Hope you enjoy the music!
