Terrors of the Deep
The name Bodie is derived from a California ghost town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Bodie's music and words are derived from a synergistic relationship to the land and to the life of a state possessed with bountiful promise and desperate reality. Caught in between the allure of the Pacific Ocean, the harsh beauty of the Mojave, and the dreams of escape, Bodie's music provides an intimate glimpse of a place the band calls home. The members-drummer David Dutton, guitarist and lead singer John Kraus, guitarist Ian Miller and bass player Steve Parks-are veterans of the Orange County and Southern California music scene. All four were involved with Trip the Spring, a band cited by the Orange County Weekly as one of the greatest Orange County bands ever. That evolved into Barnacle (which the Orange County Register praised in 2001 for it's 'virtuous musicianship, powerful vocals, masterful arrangements, emotional honesty and originality').
