Spanning across two states (CA & AZ), Brayline is a worship band that seeks to help draw people into the worship of Jesus Christ through music. Brothers Brian Wurzell (vocals/acoustic guitar) and Ben Wurzell (bass) began leading worship together in high school and continued through college and beyond. Their home church was First Baptist Church of Yucaipa in Yucaipa, CA. Seeking to create an environment where people are free to worship through music however they wish has always been at the heart of who the brothers are. In 2002, Brian accepted a position as the worship director at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Chandler, AZ. While there he joined forces with Jason Williams (vocals/electric guitar) and Matt McDermott (electric guitar/keyboard). The three Arizona friends continued to create together, while Ben pursued a career with the San Diego based worship band Something Like Silas. Occasionally, the four would join forces with drummer Jayme Ralph to lead worship for local camps, churches and college gatherings. The band has lead worship for Forest Home Christian Camps, San Diego Christian College, FLOOD San Diego and more. There was never a thought of actually creating a band, as each had their own lives musically and professionally. Being spread out across two states did not help matters either. In late 2005, while playing at a college service in San Diego together, the guys experienced the awesome power of creativity together. The realized that for some reason, people were able to engage in the worship of the true and living God, through the vehicle of music...TOGETHER! There was something special about the intimacy the band shared with each person in the room. It was as if they were one in the same. That event sparked the desire to write, create and join with people in worship experiences that were real, experiences that embraced God's kingdom here and now, and experiences that inspired people to live lives that were completely different from the way they had lived life in the past. Thus, Brayline was born. Their debut self-titled album was released in September 2006. The album is a collection of 8 modern worship songs. The band's only original track on the album, 'Fearfully and Wonderfully Made', is a powerful anthem of melodic guitars and tight bass lines, interwoven with driving drums and a strong vocal line. The rest of the album consists of renovated versions of the popular Matt Redman songs 'Blessed Be Your Name' and 'Facedown', Delirious?' 'Majesty', Chris Tomlin's 'Made to Worship', Charlie Hall's 'Marvelous Light' and the hymns 'Solid Rock' and 'Be Thou My Vision'. The future of the band is bright. With the desire to go wherever people ask them to play, the band hopes to embrace the local church and provide an outlet where the traditional views of worship music are challenged, re-thought and formed into something that is amazing and beautiful. The plans for the future include writing and creating their own music, leading worship at conferences, churches and camps and investing as much as possible in the local church. Please welcome...Brayline.
