With such inspiration as a mother who was a professional entertainer and an uncle who was a drummer with the infamous Jay McShann, music unmistakably is in this young lady's blood! Brenda Johnson, who grew up in the Melon Capital of the World, Rocky Ford, Colorado, is a new and upcoming musician/vocalist on the Contemporary/Smooth Jazz and gospel scene. After observing the electricity of Dave Koz, Chris Botti, Marc Antoine, and Jeff Lorber on stage, she was motivated to complete her first unreleased CD titled 'Origins' in November 2003. Her electric style of Smooth Jazz is exhibited in her gospel music as well; offering uplifing and encouraging messages to all. She credits her love of music to exposure to such musicians as Woody Herman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and such. Brenda, currently working on her 1st gospel CD 'Keep Your Head Up' (To debut in the Winter of 2005), currently resides in Kansas City, MO.
