In the First Place
Born in Tiverton, RI, Brian Cincotta has been writing and recording music since his early teens. Influenced by the music of The Beatles and Billy Joel along with more recent artists the likes of Ben Folds and John Mayer, Brian has developed a brand of acoustic driven pop-rock that both echoes the songcraft of his idols and is uniquely his own. A 2005 graduate of Boston University's College of Fine Arts, Brian was the winner of the 2003 'BU Idol' Competition, and the Massachusetts State Finalist for the 2005 'John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship' Contest. He has also performed and been featured on college radio stations throughout New England. Recorded in July 2006, "In The First Place" again features Brian producing and performing all vocal and instrumental tracks. Continuing in the genre-spanning style of his previous release, the album represents the work of a musician both comfortable in his idiom (pop-rocker "Out of Air") and willing to experiment (pseudo-disco jam "In Line"). Brian is currently a middle and high school band director on Boston's south shore.
