New Sun Rising
Brian Hibbert is a seasoned musical veteran who has been performing, teaching and recording for many years. Born in Toronto,Canada Brian first performed as a drummer in a band called ' The Changing Times ' at school dances.Musical influences included The Beatles,The Rolling Stones,Steppenwolf and R&B bands like The Temptations,Wilson Pickett and Stevie Wonder. After several years with the band,Brian decided to pick up the guitar and learn songs by such classic rock bands as the Who,Deep Purple,Jimi Hendrix and the Cream. It was at this time that he also chose to teach guitar to young aspiring students at Powell Music Studio in Don Mills. Two years later after visiting a couple of friends who were playing at a club in Bowmanville,Ontario the idea to perform acoustically was born. After several months of constant rehersal and research,Brian had developed an extensive repertoire of new songs with a more acoustic flavour suitable for one man and a guitar. New musical influences included Bob Dylan,James Taylor,Jim Croce,Cat Stevens,Neil Young and Bruce Cockburn. Overall, the end result in musical style was shaped by Rock,Folk,Blues,Country and R&B. Brian began performing in clubs and universities throughout the greater Toronto area and quickly developed into one of the better known/unknown solo performers in the city.Occasionaly he would perform with his brothers Paul and Steve which he still does today. Today Brian spends all of his available time at his home music studio recording( solo ) many of his songs that he has penned over the years. His new CD ' New Sun Rising ' is the result of two years recording, complete with tasteful fingerpicking, rich harmonies, soulful melodies and insightful and heartfelt lyrics. He is currently working on an instrumental album which is near completion. Many thanks to all those who have supported and believed in this dream. Peace.
