Let It Be Real
For more than two decades, Brigitte Lowe has been a treasured and successful gospel vocalist. She combines an electrifying blend of soul, traditional gospel, and R&B into a unique, neo-traditional gospel sound. Recognized for performing lyrics with unforgettable intensity, Brigitte was nurtured by the songs of classic gospel recording artists such as Mahalia Jackson, Shirley Caesar, and Rev. James Cleveland. In addition to these gospel greats, she now also enjoys the sounds of contemporary artists such as Yolanda Adams, and Helen Baylor. Brigitte has delivered many memorable performances during her singing ministry, but undoubtedly is best known for her modern, heart wrenching interpretations of classic hymns such as Stand by Me, and the ever popular, R&B infused They Say. Both songs are included on her 2002 debut project Let it be Real. With respect to Stand by Me, Brigitte says the following: 'The musician and I went into the studio without a single rehearsal. I just sang and he followed on the keyboards. Later we added a few clean-ups, but that was it. We couldn't improve on what God had done so we left it alone. What you hear on that song is right from the heart.' They Say gives the audience a glimpse of Brigitte's exceptional songwriting skills. In her own words: 'The song's opening lyrics refuse to be ignored: 'They say you've never been no good, never gonna be no good, you're momma was that way, you're daddy was that way. God knows you're no good brother's still that way.' My friends call this the 'dozens' song. It's a R&B tune that I thought only the 25 and under crowd would enjoy. But I've had grandparents tell me that They Say has encouraged them to continue trusting God despite the hurtful things that people sometimes say.' As part of the Let it be Real project, Brigitte was blessed to team up with her legendary aunt Mrs. Louise Crowell, and record a rare gem of a song titled Run On. Mrs. Crowell is well known throughout rural Georgia and Alabama for her down home, foot stomping, Southern gospel tenor that cannot be duplicated. Run On is the final track on the debut CD. An avid supporter of church ministries, Brigitte has served as a praise and worship leader and choir member. In this capacity she has been blessed to open for several renowned ministers and gospel-recording artists. Brigitte performs at numerous gospel events throughout the United States. As part of her commitment to the local community, she has been a featured singer at a local boy's home and women's shelter. In addition, one of Brigitte's major contributions to the community was a scholarship concert to aid the underprivileged youth in their pursuit of higher education.
