Some pieces are original translations while others are more like transliterations. The music is a combination of good old American blues [the ultimate lament music] and Semitic type scale forms. The idea was to make the psalms be as if they were written by modern people to make the psalms more alive and accessible. I have looked up every syllable, and worried every note. This was a time consuming as the shortest psalm so far took three weeks minimum of 'living' with each piece. About the psalms: Psalm 120 The first psalm of ascent, which would be the first of 14 steps to the temple. In this psalm Moses declares peace. Psalm 121 Well right after declaring peace, the next thing a person needs is help, real quick Psalm 123 Request for grace and mercy, with a look toward heaven. Psalm 138 This lovely psalm starts with 'I will praise you with all of my heart." Psalm 1 Blessings happiness and good fortune to the upright man, while the ungodly are quickly dismissed. Psalm 3 This is the answer to the question,' Where is your God?' The prophet sleeps peacefully while surrounded by enemies.
