But how can we communicate effectively with our partners if we do not speak the same language, or do not speak clearly? If we are to have a fulfilling relationship with our equine partners, we must learn to speak their language: the silent language of the body...and we must learn to use our bodies precisely to "speak" clearly to them in a way that they can understand. Too often, our bodies send mixed signals to the horses we ride...our tensions and misalignments become so habitual that we are not even aware of them, yet our horses are keenly aware and respond to the messages our bodies are sending them. In addition, horses mirror their riders' bodies and will adopt similar misalignments as well as compensatory patterns. This yoga practice is designed to help you to become a better rider by increasing your body awareness, improving your alignment, and developing strength, flexibility, symmetry, self-carriage, and the ability to follow the movements of your horse. In addition to all the ways yoga benefits our bodies, it also cultivates a calm, centered mind and brings us into the present moment...where our horses reside. Yoga can bring you into balance with all aspects of yourself: body, mind, and spirit...the intention of this particular practice is to also bring you into balance with your horse, and assist you in developing an ever-deepening partnership.
