Caramelskin is a singer/songwriter cut from an old soul. A fine blend of new age freedom and old school melody shines clear in the crafting of his songwriting, his guitar playing, and his strong sense of melody. Coupled with alter ego/producer Scott Carter the pair have been successful in scoring for film, documentaries, and creating a sound that is unique and refreshing. This success has produced three Emmy Awards for Caramelskin and the focus in now music for the soul. What do you sound like? "...If Jim Morrison and Prince sat in a room and played acoustic guitar for 2 hours over three bottles of red wine...with Marvin Gaye on congas quietly smoking herb...I think I sound just like that..." Born in the Washington, DC area he spent the better part of his late teens and early twenties crafting his sound and songwriting skills with the power funk band Vibe. Playing the big show on the big stage was intoxicating to him and the band toured regionally to great success. "My focus at that point in Vibe was to get people to move and shake. With the tremendous rhythm section I had it was easy to get a party moving right away and keep it moving. Songwriting sometimes took a back seat to the groove. As long as I could salt and pepper my words over that power I felt satisfied" The band recently got together over beers, food and family to record the new CD entitled "Union". This will be released this summer '06. It will feature previously unreleased music and brand new recordings from Vibe in their most powerful form. "Fate and professional circumstance brought me to Philly and now I have a new challenge" As Vibe ran it's course his focus turned inward to create a unique sound. With the move to Philadelphia Caramelskin had to start from the beginning...thus the search began. "I wanted my new project to be a naked interpretation of the sound that has been floating around in my head for years. The only way I could do that was to strip down the production to just an acoustic guitar and the truth. I feel like I have done that with my new CD. If other people dig it...great. Spread the word." Caramelskin is ready to spread his message. Songs like "Sister" and "Alone" have themes that are downright haunting in their melody and instrumentation. In a nod to his band days there is the jam "Perfect" with it's fat bass and wicked beat. Get this music now and be part of the revolution of real music. "One of my favorite songs on the new release is the title track "Caramelskin." The idea that we all are different and can bring different ideas and love to the table is great. I am a mix of many of these cultures myself. But these things can also divide us. CNN proves that everyday on that wide screen high def hellavision. As long as we have love for each other and show that love with our actions things for the next generation will change. Decades from now will we all have Caramelskin? Will they have love/hate in their souls when their blood shows otherwise? Soon we'll all have Caramelskin. Come along"
