Discovering My Universe
'Since my early years in music, I saw how music affects peoples moods and emotions. I believe we help ourselves according to what we listen to the same as to what we eat. If we get the music that makes us relax and be able to enjoy that's good for our whole environment. I invite you to listen 'Blue Room.' Though the rhythm is very strong, the color of the sounds give you a sense of calm and relaxation. "Always the Same Thing" is a song that came out from magic because it's a first take recording based on the same principle of healing music. Each track mixes different cultures and styles. To me it's very joyful to be able to express through my music and an honor to have musicians such as Michael Urbaniak, Al McDowell and the rest of the guys in the band, all of them great musicians and persons. I hope you like as I like and enjoy.' Born in Zacatecas,Mexico, Carlos chose his musical career by tender age of eight. The guitar was his inseparable companion until the drum kit lured him into a torrid love affair with the world of percussion. His masterly performances -some have even used the word genius when describing him- attest the fact that his romance is still as fresh today as at it's outset. Carlos has played in concerts and recordings for the most respected voices of the continent. Backhome in Mexico, he is considered to be the one of the best exponents of this genre. His first prominent job on the International scene was with bassist Jaco Pastorius, one of the most outstanding musicians in history of jazz. With Pastorius, Carlos produced El Universo es mi Casa, which sold thousands of copies worldwide, thanks to the backing of DIW Records,of Japan, and brought him to the international market back in 1989. Carlos' most recent release, Descubriendo mi Universo (Discovering my Universe), features such luminas as Michael Urbaniak, Al McDowell and Piro Rodríguez.
