Artist Information Instrumentation on Exposed: Catherine McInnes piano and voice Andrew Downing bass Ian Mackay drums Jason Fowler guitar Biography Catherine McInnes has been performing professionally for over ten years, as a jazz singer, as a solo singersongwriter and as a member of the vocal harmony folk-jazz trio Mosaic. She released Exposed, her first solo CD of all her own songs, in June 2007. An exposition of her own struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the project challenges the listener to see the human being trying to heal behind their mental illness. The songs will touch 'the tragically hip'; anyone who has had to deal with mental illness in their families or themselves, yet are readily accessible in a generic pop sense. Self-produced and mixed by multi-Juno award winner Kevin Doyle, the project features exquisite instrumental back-up to her strong vocals by Juno winner Andrew Downing on bass, Ian Mackay on drums and Jason Fowler (John McDermott, Anne Lindsay) on guitar with selected tracks featuring Kevin Turcotte on trumpet and Anne Lindsay on fiddle. Track #8 on the CD, Waltzing on Eggshells, won the 2007 Ontario Council of Folk Festivals' Songs From The Heart Contest. Beyond songwriting and performing, Catherine is a teacher, choral composer and arranger, and is currently the Artistic Director of Home County Folk Festival in London, Ontario Canada. Strongest musical influences: Joni Mitchell, Bruce Cockburn, Tony Bennett and Bill Evans Discography Exposed 2007 14 tracks of original songs Alone Together 2003 duets of classic jazz ballads.
