Ceiling Star is: Michael H. Doty on vocals, guitar, and various other instruments; Dan Hoffman on drums and percussion; and Tommy Gravenor on bass. The album 'Somewhere Elsewhere' is Ceiling Star's sophomore effort, and it is a double album on one disc. The first half, 'Somewhere,' is the more rock-oriented side, and the second half, 'Elsewhere,' is more laid back. On this album, Dan played all of the drums and percussion, also supplying backing vocals on 'Tina,' 'Strung Out,' and 'I Don't Wanna Know About You.' Michael did all of the main vocals, harmonies, and all of the instrumentation. Shawn Schlag, from the Chicago-based band Third Wheel, provided harmony vocals on 'A Passing Obsession.' This is the follow up album to their debut, 'Goodbye To Blinking Lights.' The idea for the 'Somewhere Elsewhere' title came from Dan. He had been thinking of using that title on one of his other projects, but he thought it fit perfectly with the themes and the dual nature of this album. The music is a departure from the music of their debut album. It has a sound that is more raw and full of emotional content. The band wanted to capture the sound and mood of the songs in a less-glossy, more natural, real, and live sound, so they decided to mix the album themselves, with the help of Matt Woolley to master their mixes. The band is very happy with the sound that they have achieved on this album, and they are looking forward to working on the next. They will be playing shows to promote this album, and as soon as they finish work on the new songs, they will begin recording their third album. Look for the band to play at a venue near you!
