Songs from An Outpost
Charlie O' Brien's music is a heartfelt look at the world through the Irish folk/trad. Idiom which touches on some unexpected ground along the way. His music makes use of both English- and Gaelic-speaking schools of thought and is influenced by the Spanish world, among others. Hailing from Killarney in the County of Kerry, he has spent 3 of the last 7 years in Spain which has lightly coloured his musical style. This influence is most obviously felt in the Baroque-tinged Spanish piece 'Calle de Las Ursulas' on Songs from an Outpost. He has worked with many musicians from varied backrounds, from young accordian player Steven Carroll of Sliabh Luachra to fiddle player Colin Farrell of Grada and Israeli piano accordian player Emmanuel Mann. His debut album is an amalgam of all these varied influnces.
