Life in a Beach Town
'Life in a Beach Town' was my first gold record. It was recorded in 1995. It was digitally remastered in 2008. What a wonderful CD this is! It has the warmth of an analog recording with digital Clarity. It has more of a Jazz/Latin influence than most of my other CDs. I had just met Bobby Russell at the start of this recording project. He is now at U.N.C.W. where he is the Jazz Guitar Instructor. I was recording at a studio in Wilmington,North Carolina called Low Tide Recording owned by Jimbo Fox. Bobby Russell,a jazz player originally from Wilmington,North Carolina, had just returned from several years of playing out of Atlanta,Georgia. He is to this day,one of the best players I know. The way he voices his guitar and phrases his chord work around my lyrics is a very cool thing! This is great guitar playing without getting in the way of the vocals and the rest of the music. My long time friend and veteran of the college club road scene, Kendall Turnage played congas and shakers on most of the tracks. Derwin Hinson played several acoustic instruments on a few of the songs on this CD that lend themselves to the Americana side of the music world. These are all original songs played by real artist until it was done right. These are live studio recordings. There was no such thing as editing out mistakes when these songs were recorded. The remastering of this music has only made it better. That is why we have released this CD again. There are songs that will fit your every mood. Hopefully, they'll even put you in a better mood! I know that my buddy,Jimmy Buffett,as well as many of his Parrott Head Nation followers have heard this CD at many a tailgate party at a Buffett Concert. So,take a little mental vacation and listen to 'Life in a Beach Town',by Chris Bellamy.
