Put on the Shiny
If some of this music sounds vaguely familiar then that may be because it embraces our shared musical identity; the kind of old school music that has formed the basis of our collective notions of modern music. This timeless sound of simple melody and groove is all around us and when it gets in, it becomes a part of the soundtrack of our personal and cultural history. It is a swinging universe that flows in a rich confluence of sounds, poetry and musical ideas. Finally, this music could not sound the way it does without the huge contribution of co-conspirators, Calvin Turnbull, who produced this project, and Roger Fritz, my multi-talented musical director. Their fingerprints are everywhere and their guilt speaks for itself. James Preston drove the getaway car. He is the best stickman and was the perfect accomplice for this job. These guys are pros, ruthless in their musical genius and have stolen my music and made it their own. Thanks again, boys. This is another kind of real California music. It is rock. It gets blue. Stir it up and hopefully, once again, something old makes something new. Make time for your future. Make time for our future. Peace. Clee7s.
