Slowly Spinning Around
CRAIG LYONS Singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, keyboardist, and producer Craig Lyons was born in Youngstown, OH to two musicians in 1981. Surrounded by music almost 24 hours a day for his entire childhood, he was bound for a life of music. To Craig, the only thing that matters in music is honesty. 'It's instantly evident whether or not someone's work comes from the soul.' Craig benefits greatly from this perspective, as his music is built on pure passion. This allows him to cross the borders of genres and age groups and widen his fan base without limits. Craig has recently put together a solid supporting band in his new home town, Cincinnati, to bring his solo project to the stage. After writing, recording, and producing all the parts for an MTV-licensed album released in 2003, he wanted a band to do the songs justice in a live setting. With classical solo trumpet performances for crowds of over 10,000 people, 6 years of rock experience on stage behind a drum kit, and now 2 years of experience as a front man, live performance is in his blood. Slowly Spinning Around is the album recorded and produced entirely by Craig in 2003. It was adopted by Chicago-based record label Grayscale Records, and Craig quickly became Grayscale's primary artist. Louis Clark of Bunim-Murray/MTV stumbled across Grayscale's website, listened to samples from the album, and served Craig with licensing contracts the next day. Since then, Craig's music has aired on The Real World dozens of times for well over 100 million people worldwide, and is still airing currently. The album has sold 500 copies by word of mouth alone.
