Dan N Dee is a hip hop group consisting of Dan the Underdog (Production, vocals) and McDee (vocals). The two met when they performed at 2005's Bass In The Dust in Alice Springs. After the show they wrote and recorded a couple of tracks together, when McDee heard Dan's final mixes, he knew he wanted him to record his solo album. Not long after finishing his vocals/production work on TASK's 'Out Of The Darkness' (CAAMA Records), Dan found himself back in Alice Springs working on McDee's 'B4 Tha Beginning'. In 2006, while running music workshops in indigenous communities during the day, they wrote and recorded 'Dan N Dee' at night which was released independently in May '07. Although this is their first project together as Dan N Dee, both have had success in their past musical endeavors. Dan the Underdog is an Adelaide born MC/Producer who spent the latter half of his life in Buffalo, New York. Growing up, he showed interest in rap and musical production from an early age. It started out as making beats on his Playstation for MC's in his neighborhood. A few years later, he started rapping himself, and by 19 he had released 3 independent solo albums and had vocal/production credits on releases by Kulu (Tephlon Ent.), Toad Unreal, Global Ken (Baby Steps), and other MC's making their mark in the Buffalo hip hop scene. In 2005, he moved back to Australia and soon found himself in Darwin, NT, working alongside TASK, Threat3 and Casper in Teknikal Onslaught (an offshoot of Brotha-Boy Family). They released an LP entitled 'The Game' and performed regularly in and around Darwin. McDee is an Alice Springs born MC. His love for hip-hop developed while living in Adelaide, just writing raps on the back of receipt papers while working in a supermarket. He met up with J-Dash-P in 2001 and soon became a member of The Brotha-Boy Family. The group released 'Mixtape Vol. 1' in 2004 after a massive turnout at Malak Underground, which showcased not only the Brotha-Boy Family as the main act, but hosted Breakdance/Beatbox/ & MC Battles. In 2006 he opened for Terra Firma in Adelaide's Electric Light Hotel with Kaydence MC, who's debut solo album is being produced by Simplex and will be released on Symbiotic Audio. McDee's relationship with Kaydence & Terra Firma also landed him an opening spot with Brother Ali in his 'Undisputed Truth Tour'. His first independent solo release 'B4 Tha Beginning' is currently available and selling strong. Although the two have separately accumulated an impressive track record, they agree this is their best work to date. Since the release of 'Dan N Dee' they've been getting more exposure in newspapers and radio, pulling bigger crowds, and getting more national performances, workshops and CD sales. With creative, thought provoking lyrics, innovative instrumentals from Dan the Underdog, Davey Dave and Simplex, and an electrifying stage performance, Dan N Dee are definently making their mark in the Hip Hop scene.
