In music, a bridge is a contrasting section which also prepares for the return of the main composition of the song. In life, it's a thing that provides connection or access: a common language between cultures. With this album, I wanted to do both; creatively work on contrasting musical genres while exposing two generations to each other's music. An accidental meeting with hip hop artist Hassan at Chung King Studios in NYC (where we were working in adjacent rooms) went from polite conversation to the recording of a single "Besame Mucho" with a corresponding video that generated over a million views online. That in turn led to the recording of this album. I was never a big advocate of rap music but have since found that if you keep your mind and heart open, you may be surprised where it may lead.
