Just Want to Minister
I was born in Southern Pines, NC in the early 1960's to wonderful parents: John W. and Ida M. Peek. I began singing when I was about five years old. I vividly remember holding up my fingers indicating my age to the director of the Petite choir at Harrington Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Over the years I have sung in several choirs and groups until about five years ago when I became more focused on teaching ministry. My pastor at the time (Pastor Michael Thomas) asked if I'd be interested in going on a mission trip to Africa. I said yes, and started on what became a four year annual journey to the beautiful country of Kenya. I sang a song during one of several services and two Kenyan ladies asked, "Where is your CD?" They asked with the expectation of receiving a professionally produced product. This planted the seed of possibility. This occurred in 2002. The following year I returned as a member of the missions team and was asked why I didn't have a CD yet and "the next time I see you, you must have a CD." Two years went by, along with two more mission trips and I finally got the message. In September 2004 I began writing the songs on the "Just Want to Minister" CD. My wife, Toni (a Buffalo, NY native) is a very important part of my life. We met in England in the mid 1980's, while both serving in the U.S. Air Force. We married about a year and a half later. We've both been involved in ministry, in one way or another, from childhood. Our hope and prayer is to reach the unsaved with the gospel of Jesus Christ and encourage our brothers and sisters in the Lord. SONG'S ORIGIN: #1. I Just Want to Minister - Heart felt message about my purpose and motivation for doing the things I do. I just want to minister, to serve humanity as God leads me. #2. When I Called Your Name (Genesis 3:9-10) - This song is God speaking to Adam and Eve after they sinned and then to you and me; Asking the question, "Where were you when I called your name?" What is your spiritual condition? # 3. Jesus, The Christ (Matthew 16:16) - The Jesus we read about in the bible isn't just another person who possessed that name, but he is the Christ, our Savior, the Messiah, our Redeemer...He wants to be our Lord. #4. You Must Be Born Again (John 3:3) - An undeniable reality, if we want to be with the Lord after this life ends and not have to pay the ultimate price for our sins. #5. Have You Received the Power? (Acts 19:2) - This is a controversial question for some Christians, though scripture supports what we call the baptism of the Holy Spirit and His manifestation(s). Search scripture for yourself. This is not a heaven or hell issue, but who are we to deny weapons God has given us to wage spiritual warfare? #6. Lead Me & Guide Me (Psalm 31:3) - This is my prayer. I need God to lead and guide me by scripture and the Holy Spirit if I'm to fulfill His will for my life. I've found happiness at the end of obedience to His leading. #7. Praise Ye The Lord (Psalm 150) - God is worthy of all our praise. #8. Listen To Your Heart (John 3-5) - Christian's born again spirit has been made alive. We can now go directly to God and talk to Him (prayer). God also desires us to hear from Him, not only through scripture, a preacher, or audibly, but to and through our born again spirit/heart. What God speaks to your heart will always align with His Word. #9. Virtuous Woman (Proverbs 31:10-31) - This song is a tribute to the virtuous women in my life. It is also meant to be an encouragement to other young ladies (my daughter included) to model their character after that of a virtuous woman. #10. It's All Up To You (Proverbs 18:20-21) - This is good news. What I have in life (not just material things) is my responsibility. I have what I say. My actions are a result of what I say. The combination of words and actions materialize and become... CHECK OUT MY FRIEND'S CDs ON CDBABY: cdbaby.com/CD/jelaniajackson cdbaby.com/CD/chappellsounds.
