Ive Got Faith
I've Got Faith Durham, North Carolina's Darryl Richmond has been on the road, playing Gospel music since his teens. First as a member of Gospel matriarch Margaret Allison and The Angelic Gospel Singers, and then with Gospel Quartet mainstay Charles Johnson & the Revivers -with whom he still tours occasionally-one could say both traditional Gospel and Quartet music was in Darryl's blood. True enough, but there was a lot more music pumping in the young man's heart that only now, with his debut release on McG Records, I've Got Faith, come fully front and center. Along with a musical menu steeped with the likes Quartet legends the Harmonizing Four, the Dixie Hummingbirds, and the Blind Boys of Alabama, was a healthy dose of smooth, soulful R&B cats from Brook Benton and Nat "King" Cole, to Louis Armstrong and Ray Charles. And you can hear all of the above, in bits and pieces all drawn together and reassembled into I've Got Faith, Darryl's own remarkable, irresistible, and truly original amalgam of all the great music and artist he has lived with and loved for most of his life. With a suave and sophisticated, but always humble and gracious demeanor, Darryl creates a sound on I've Got Faith that is as fresh as this evening's news, and familiar as an old rocking chair. Darryl's diversity is broad yet natural enough to readily cross barriers of genre and target markets to grab the ears and the hearts of lovers of Southern Gospel, traditional Gospel, Gospel Quartet, and great music of any persuasion. As you listen, his hope is that you will be as blessed by hearing as much as he has been blessed in the production of this CD.
