Under the Sun
Bio After a childhood shaken by divorce, Dave Kirkpatrick moved with his mother and 3 siblings to Seattle, where he began to use his gifts in music to help him process through the effects of a broken family. He dreamed of someday being married and starting his own family in an atmosphere of love. However, in May of 2000, the night before his wedding, his fiancé collapsed at their rehearsal dinner. With confidence and hope, he fought for his new wife, consulting over 40 prominent doctors and enlisting literally hundreds of thousands to pray while struggling day and night in research and prayer himself to find a diagnosis and healing for his love. But in the end, God had other plans for Crystal and Dave. After only 5 months of marriage, He took her home to Paradise. Dave's music gives a vivid picture of the struggle to trust God's will in the midst of heartache. His mission is to give testimony to the person and faithfulness of God, as one who has literally walked though the 'valley of the shadow of death', desperately trusting that God would be with him, even through his darkest hour. Despite his struggles, Dave's music is also about redemption and filled with joy over God's faithfulness and the hope we all can have both in Heaven and on earth through Jesus. As a sweet picture of this grace, God has since blessed Dave with a new love, Tami, to whom he was married in late 2003. Dave recently was also blessed with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University, a Christian college, and currently plays on the worship team for his church. He is working on his next album that will include songs to speak encouragement, empathy, and hope to those who are struggling with the current issues of our generation.
