So when DiSalle calls himself an independent artist, he's not using the term loosely. - Bob Thompson, 24 Hours David Disalle was born into a family of accomplished musicians in 1978. The Toronto-based artist was immersed in a wide variety of musical styles from the very beginning; he cites the Beatles, Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler, Sting and Neil Young as some of his early songwriting influences. The stylings of guitar masters as diverse as Jimi Hendrix, Julian Bream, Lenny Breau, Roy Buchanan, and Stevie Ray Vaughan were influential in the development of his guitar playing skills, while the music of Queen inspired his creativity on the piano. At 17 years old, and with no formal musical education, David was already displaying a unique sense of melodic structure and so, David Disalle the musician was born. David put himself through university and financed the recording of his original material by playing guitar in a number of local bands. Although his early recordings were never officially released, they eventually found their way to Producer/Engineer, Greg Kavanagh, who heard the potential and began working with the young DiSalle. The result of this professional union is DiSalle's first, self-titled full length album. Comprised of eleven DiSalle originals, the recording showcases his intelligent lyrics, catchy hooks and musical diversity.
