Product Notes

David (Zach) and Wanda Zachary Biography Zach has been singing since 1962, at the ripe old age of nine, and writing songs since he was fourteen years old. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was inspired to sing at an early age by his mother and the local church choir at Westland Baptist Church, in Westland, Michigan. This was the beginning of his Gospel roots, singing the old Baptist hymns as his mother would sing along and nurture him. The nurturing of his voice was a result of his choir instructor in Jr. High and High School, but his singing style was influenced by many legends such as Hank Williams Sr., Jimmie Davis, Kitty Wells, Stonewall Jackson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Louvin Brothers, Elvis and the Beatles. His song writing ability was greatly influenced by Hank Williams Sr. along with the great John Lennon and Paul McCartney. You'll find traces of these artists and songwriters in a lot of his songs. One song on this new CD with a particularly personal meaning is 'Jesus Walked Out', a song about how Jesus stands before His father and confesses for those who believe in Him. Zach is married to Wanda Elrod, a great singing partner and songwriter in her own right. They have been performing together since 1989, but their stories go back even farther. As songwriters and singers, they share a common goal about writing and performing music that touches audiences in a personal way. Their release in 2003 of "Good Friends Forever", a blend of original and traditional compositions reflects just a small part of the many songs which show deep emotions in their singing styles. Wanda started singing in local talent contests back in her hometown of Russellville, Kentucky when she was fifteen years old and has a very original style of singing. Listen to the track 'Angels Are Real' on the CD "Why Would He?", and you'll hear her distinctive southern voice. Many times she would sing and perform in some of the local civic organizations back in Russellville for charity events, while always trying to help others in some way through her music. Her inspiration to sing and write comes from artists like Jim Reeves, Pasty Cline, Emmy Lou Harris, Patty Loveless and Rhonda Vincent. Her soft voice gives listeners the feeling that they're part of each song she sings. The Gospel tune 'Older and Wiser' on this "Good Friends Forever" CD gives you some insight into her song writing ability.
