Bimah to Broadway Act 1
Cantor Deborah Jacobson has served Temples in Connecticut and Manhattan and now resides in Florida, where she is the Cantor at Temple Ahavat Shalom. She received her Masters in Sacred Music and ordination of Hazzan (Cantor) from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School of the Jewish Theological Seminary in Manhattan. She has received numerous scholarships and awards including the H.L. Miller Fellowship. Deborah has been featured on Lifetime TV on a segment about women clergy. Raised in New Rochelle, N.Y. Deborah received her B.A. in Theater/Voice and literature from New York University. She was a teacher in public and private schools as well as a performer in several off-Broadway plays and a number of TV shows and independent films. Deborah has entertained audiences with Hebrew and Yiddish music as well as favorite Broadway show tunes at many Jewish Fundraising events throughout the country and has sung at concert halls for interfaith communities and major fundraising events, including at the Palace Theater in Stamford CT for a benefit for the Jewish community of Argentina. Her book, Survival Jobs: 154 Ways to Make Money While Pursuing Your Dream, has been published in two editions and was a Quality Paperback Book Club selection. A newer edition of the book, titled 150 Jobs You Can Start Today, was published in October, 2003, by Broadway Books. Deborah has appeared locally and nationally on numerous TV shows such as Good Day New York, AM Northwest, and News 12 Westchester, Connecticut and New Jersey. She has been on over 60 radio stations across the country and has been featured in Magazines and Newspapers including Glamour, The Wall Street Journal and Self. Her first CD, Shabbat Unplugged, was released in June 2005. Bimah to Broadway Act 1 was released in 2008. A Chanukah CD featuring Deborah and members of her Temple Ahavat Shalom Choir is scheduled to be released in fall 2008.
