I'll Show You Where
Derek McFarland is a singer/songwriter and recording artist. While his vocal accomplishments span many genres, he writes and records fresh-n-funky country mixed with some gospel and soul. After living and working in Nashville for many years, Derek now lives in upstate South Carolina, in the Charlotte, NC area. Derek recently finished his second studio album, 'I'll Show You Where,' which showcases his thoughtful and clever style of writing. A fan of meaningful lyrics, outstanding musicianship and sonic excellence, Derek put together an album of music that he is proud of as fan and artist. Equally comfortable in front of a piano or guitar, Derek's songs reflect his Billy Joel/Elton John/Harry Connick Jr. influence as well as inspiration from country artists ranging from Rascall Flatts to Merle Haggard. Believing that 'rests are just as musical as notes,' Derek's story-telling vocals convey a level of reality and emotion that is difficult to capture on a recorded performance. This, combined with catchy melodies and slammin' tracks make these songs appropriate for both the morning commute and the late-night coffee house.
