Derrick (Tony) Lewis Derrick (Tony) Lewis is a native of the United States of America, Washington, D.C. (Nation's Capital). Derrick has studied music since High School and advanced his music education at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he attended on a Music scholarship and played with the jazz band. After graduation, he returned to Washington, D.C. to continue his music career at the University of the District of Columbia and played with Small Jazz Ensemble. Derrick studied with Najee, Grover Washington, Jr., Greg Thomas (Parliament Funkadelics), Benjamin Sands (Arts D.C. Jazz Band), and Leroy Barton (U.S. Marine Corp. Jazz Band). He is a member of the United States Coast Guard Cutters Stage Band of Washington, D.C. March 2000, Derrick performed at the Tribute to Grover Washington, Jr. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the Mr. Magic Finale with Najee, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum. Stevie Wonder and Vocalist Dawn Lewis also participated in the finale, which was hosted by Bill Cosby. He performed with Smooth Jazz artist Najee at the 2000 Riverfest Jazz Festival in Washington, D.C. and also at the 2000 Pasadena Jazz Festival in California. Other great artist he has performed with are James Carter (Columbia Records), Branford Marsalis (Columbia Records), Russell Malone (Columbia Records), Charlie Hampton of Washington, D.C. and Louis Jordan (Paris, France). Derrick and the band performed in various jazz clubs in Guadeloupe, West Indies for American Airlines. He has performed at the historic Chesterfield CafÃ© in Paris, France and other jazz arenas in Paris, France. You will truly enjoy the mellow sounds and style of Derrick's music arrangements. Locally, he can be seen with such artist as: Julia Nixon & Company, Jimi Smooth & Hittime, and many other local artist in the Washington/Metropolitan Area.
