DHOMBA's origins lie in the Middle Eastern, neo-tribal music and dance movement nearly 20 years ago. David Rolin was one of the earliest musicians in Gypsy Caravan, a seminal force in the neo-tribal community. He then moved on to collaborate with Jane Archer to bring together a family of musicians and dancers called Terra Dhomba. Under their direction, they explored more world rhythms and eclectic choreography. Today, DHOMBA is an instrumental trio. DHOMBA is David Rolin on percussion, Matt Kearns on guitar, didgeridoo and mbira and David White on keyboard. The simplicity of the trio has allowed the individual voices of each of them to mature and evolve into an exciting new ethno-jazz voice. The music is consistently stimulating, often haunting and occasionally quirky. The all-original song list provides wonderful surprises and good solid entertainment.
