Most Definitely Live
Dinah D's Contraband Swingclub was formed to fulfill the desire of dancers to swingdance to a live band! This 6 piece dynamo band had certainly fulfilled all expectations!! Packing pubs and dancehalls, they have not only been well received- but encouraged to make a live recording- So dancers could take a piece of their energy home!! Most Definitely Live is a culmination of an evenings' worth of excellent performance. Most Definitely Live features 6 original compositions by Dinah D and 6 of The Swingclub's regular classic favorites. The show was recorded live at the famous Queen's Hotel in Sept'08 in Nanaimo BC. Together with Dinah D, engineer and co-producer Rick Salt found a live sound that is not too 'audience centric'. Most Definitely Live is a solid album that brings the energy and groove of a live dancefloor to your livingroom! Dinah D's Contraband Swingclub's musicians are gathered from nooks and crannies around Vancouver and Vancouver Island, Canada. Five of the Swingclub members are excellent singers- this combined with Dinah D's songwriting makes a really hot live band with 5 front people! Each member brings something amazing to the Swingclub's sound: Aaron Cadwaladr- Guitar/Vocals. Aaron is an accomplished singer/songwriter. With a full length album( name) and an EP (Shape Changing Sky), Aaron brings a nice rhythm and sensibility to The Swingclub. Tina Jones- Trumpet& Flugelhorn/Vocals Tina's excellent voice and positive stage presence are irreplaceable! Tina is an incredibly accomplished musician, always adding fun ideas and keeping the sound upbeat. Matt Carter- Baritone& Tenor Saxophones/Vocals Matt (aka MC.MicControl) is a smokin' sax player. Founder of The Kiltlifters, Matt's energy and ability to rile up an audience are unbeatable! Dave St.Jean- Trombone/Vocals Dave is one heck of a Bone player- bringing humour and great tone to the Swingclub. With Matt, Dave is a member of Ska/Punk group the Kiltlifters. Phil Wipper- Drums/Occasional Vocals Phil is Vancouver Island's most sought after drummer. His style and drive are key to the Swingclub's propulsion - especially if there's a full dancefloor! Dinah D- Upright Bass/Vocals Dinah fronts the Swingclub with her swingin' style and steady bass groove. Her vocals are reminiscent of Dinah Washington and many of the great female singers of the 1930+40s.
