The group, Dixie Aires, was established in 1970 by Edward Dunlap, Sr. It is not known how The Dixie Aires got their name, but it is a known fact that the group is singing praises unto God. From the beginning the Dixie Aires has had and continues to have a love for God, which they demonstrates through their music, which is one of their ways of ministering to God's people. Like David soothed Saul with his music, so the Dixie Aires lightens the load of God's people through their songs of encouragement, direction, comfort, inspirational and enlightenment. The oldest member of the group is Bro. Edward Dunlap, Sr., who is a real inspiration for the group. The purpose of The Dixie Aires is to lift up the name of Jesus, and it is their prayer that through their songs souls will be led to Christ. It is their desire to honor and glorify God through their unique style of singing. The group recorded their first 45 album in 1976. The titles on the 45 were 'Going Home,' and 'Save A Seat For Me.' Some of the deceased members of the group are: Albert Qualls, Henry Heaten and Van Dunlap. Some of the former members are: James Jones, Gary Hadley, Shawn Davis, Mario Jones and James Andrew. In year 2000 the group released their album entitled 'The Dixie Aires,' which included songs like 'Made Up Mind,' 'Tragedy,' 'I'm Going Home,' 'Amazing Grace,' 'Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled,' and more. June 2003 marks the release of their second CD entitled : 'The Danger Zone,' which include songs like '911,' 'Jesus Stopped By' 'I Miss My Mother,'I Thank You Jesus,' 'God's Love Will Go All The Way,' 'Danger Zone,' and more. The Dixie Aires has had engagements which caused them to travel as far as Louisiana and St. Louis and as near as their own back yard, Pine Bluff, Altheimer and surroundings areas. The group is committed to the service of the Lord. It is their goal to continue to praise God for His goodness and mercy through their songs of love, praise, worship, encouragement and inspiration. The Dixie Aires has a love for people and a heart that is sensitive to the needs and hurts of God's people. The group is committed to singing songs that will minister to the heart of the people, because God is a God of love, and that love is revealed through their songs.
