Dylan is a songwriter of extraordinary depth and talent. He is clearly one of the major/most undiscovered singer/songwriters in the Pacific Northwest. Moonchaser is his first studio album, but is hopefully just the first of many, as there are so many more songs that need to be recorded. The subjects of his songs range from moody/serious(1) to popular(2) to odd/curious/funny(3) to children's songs(4). The depth of variance in mood, style, and genre within Dylan's songs is extremely rare indeed. He lists a wide range of influences which include Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Django Reinhardt, Wilco, Led Zeppelin and Charles Mingus(5). All of his songs are backed up by [as the kids say today] hella mad guitar skills. During live performances, he will offer up a vast array of songs and is almost guaranteed to have something for everyone. (1) E.g.: Ghosts, Sunrise Over Babylon, etc. (2) E.g.: Moonchaser, A Million Things, etc. (3) E.g.: Top Heavy Girls, French Kissing With Bronchitus, etc. (4) E.g.: The Lion Song, Patches, etc. (5) Listed in no particular order, not even alphabetical.
