Woodshed'n the new album by Musick & Merritt. That's Earl Musick & Mark Merritt for you folks not from Texas, has just been released. Musick & Merritt have been writing songs together for more then ten years, when they decided to make there first album together. Singer/songwriters, record producers and recording engineers they have a pretty good list of records they've worked on separately and together as well as releasing their on projects For Musick, his album releases include Done Deal, Privateer and Duck & Cover. Mark Merritt recently released his highly acclaimed album Peace of Me, Merritt played all the instruments on this album and either wrote or co wrote all the songs. The Woodshed'n album is an acoustic album, preformed live in the studio. The back story goes something like this: In the winter of 08, Musick & Merritt decided to make this record and set out to do so. They assembled the players they wanted to work with; keeping in mind it was going to be acoustic and live. They brought in Mick Morrow on Bass & vocals, Dave Pendley on Snare with brushes and a porch board, Darlina Musick on hand percussion & vocals they became known as (The Wood Workers). They setup in the main room at RockHouse Studio, and got right to it. After several tries they realized that the songs just didn't have the spark they were looking for. So at some point they moved to the lobby at RockHouse, were most of the songwriting goes on and low and behold sparks started flying. When you open the album jacket you'll see where the album was recorded, pretty close quarters for live mic's and wooded instruments. But for some reason that's were sparkers flew, so let be. The 11 songs on the Woodshed'n album are a mixture of the style of song writing that goes on here. Some would describe these songs as eclectic, but they would be wrong. These are songs that haven't been covered by other artists yet, when they are the genre will forever be set in stone. Until then the genre is unknown! We hope the album will be enjoyed by our fans and friends around the world, once released it's out of our hands. Just remember we did this album with love in our hearts and an ear to the groove. Till we knock on your door. Peace Earl Musick, Mark Merritt & The Wood Workers.
