The Old Man woke to the staccato warm-ups of a practicing Soprano. Short, piercing 'ahs' wre being jettisoned through an open window above his apartment. They tumbled down the brick shaftway that separated his building from the next, skipped off a fire escape and landed on his bed. The Old Man got up. Grumbled. He put on the kettle and began rummaging through piles of clothes strewn across a worn carpet. He had no furniture. He found a small cardboard box which he opened and stared into for several seconds. 'Where the hell are my bishops?' he muttered, wrapping a wool scarf around his neck. Chip would be arriving soon. They had finally agreed to see each other, reminisce, and play chess. Without bishops this would be impossible. Origami Monkeys A startlingly interesting album. Includes Genuine Emotion and You Get What You Paid For sung by 'Once' star Cristin Milioti.
