She's An Actress
At age 16, Eli Goldsmith became the youngest musician in the history of the Vans Warped Tour, playing drums in the pop punk band Slimer (Cargo Records) and touring with acts such as Eminem, Blink-182, Black Eyed Peas, Lit, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, Less Than Jake, The Vandals and Ice T. However, at 18 Eli decided to exchange his drumsticks for textbooks and attend Princeton University in New Jersey, where he studied politics and was elected president of his class all four years. Although it appeared that Eli had abandoned music in favor of more scholarly pursuits, he began singing and songwriting and was subsequently invited to perform at large-scale University arts events and other local venues while his single 'A Casual Thing' spread rapidly throughout east coast college campuses. At age 24, Eli now lives in Los Angeles, where he continues to write, record, perform and most of all improve as an artist. Over the last two years, Eli has been invited again and again to perform at reputable venues in New York City, Chicago, and Philadelphia, as well as major venues all over Southern California, such as the House of Blues in Hollywood. On July 30, 2007, Eli released 'She's an Actress,' a six-song EP that marked his first album with worldwide digital distribution. The son of a jazz musician and a 5th grade teacher, Eli has benefited from a modest upbringing characterized by an appreciation for artistry, scholarship, family and love. Nevertheless, Eli's songwriting ethic is really quite simple: putting aside all the grand articulations and often misplaced profundity......music should make us smile.
