Celtic Jazz - This magical ensemble incorporates the spirit of Celtic and the soul of the American jazz idiom, blended with other international music into a collection of original works and traditional sounds. Traveler is a concept album that is about the journey of the soul on the eternal continuum. Ellis & Franklin is an instrumental group that performed their own blend of electro-acoustic music using innovative instruments from 1992 until James Franklin Anglesey's death in 2005. The leader/composer/ and Clio award winning recording engineer, also known as Jimmy Franklin, produced this album through Lodestar Productions with his wife, Theresa Ellis, in their home studio in West Jordan, Utah in 1997. Ellis & Franklin coined the musical description Celtic Jazz in the mid 1990's. Popular fiddlist Theresa Ellis performs with electric violins along with the traditional acoustic violin. Previously endorsed Artist with Zeta Music Systems, she plays the Zeta MIDI Jazz Violin, and the Zeta Strados electric violin. Composer/arranger Jimmy Franklin is featured on various keyboards, and composer Jim Logue on saxophones, wind controller, penny whistle and percussion. Steve Wesson covers upright bass and acoustic guitar. Mark 'Hondo' Hahn plays his own designed drumset that is electric, but sounds clearly acoustic. 'June Apple/Kitchen Girl' from their Traveler album is featured on a compilation CD released with the monthly publication Keltika Magazine, March 1998, distributed in Italy, Germany, and Spain.
